Pinterest sections are useful until you need to export them. A single “Home renovation” board may contain separate sections for lighting, kitchens, bathrooms and flooring, while your current meeting concerns only lighting. Downloading the whole board creates a large archive and leaves you sorting through unrelated pins afterward.
A Pinterest section downloader lets you work at the same level of organization you already created on Pinterest. With PinBoardSaver for Chrome, you can open the relevant section, collect its media and save that subset instead of the entire board.
Board, section or individual pin?
Choose the smallest unit that matches the task. Use the online downloader for one image, GIF or video. Download a section for one category inside a larger collection. Download the complete board when its sections belong together and you want a full archive.
The difference matters on mature boards. A board may have thousands of pins accumulated over years, while the useful section contains only 80 carefully grouped references.
How to download pins from one section
Open the section directly
Navigate to the Pinterest board and click the section you want. Check the heading and visible pins so you do not accidentally remain on the full-board view. If the content is private, sign in with an account that can access it.
Start the PinBoardSaver scan
Open the Chrome extension while the section is displayed and begin extraction. Keep the tab open as Pinterest loads the section. Larger collections can take longer to scan than the first visible screen suggests.
Review the media
Check the result and remove irrelevant pins or duplicates. A section can contain JPG and PNG images, animated GIFs and video pins. Decide whether you want every media type or only the files required for the current project.
Choose the output
Download a ZIP when you need separate files. Choose PDF for a fixed document that can be shared or printed, or JPEG for one quick visual collage. Name the output after both the board and section so it remains understandable outside Pinterest—for example, home-renovation-lighting.zip.

When to export sections separately
Separate exports work well when each section belongs to a different teammate, client decision or phase of work. An interior designer might send lighting references to one supplier and finishes to another. A marketing team might keep campaign concepts separate by audience or channel.
They are also helpful when a complete board produces an unwieldy PDF. Several concise documents are easier to review than one hundred-page file. The guide to saving Pinterest boards as PDF explains how masonry and single-image layouts change that document.
Preserve the hierarchy in your folders
If you export several sections, create one local folder named after the board and place one subfolder or archive inside it for each section. Match Pinterest's names where possible. This makes the local copy predictable and helps you compare it with the live board later.
Add a download date when the board changes frequently. A date turns an export into a meaningful snapshot instead of an apparently definitive copy that may already be out of date.
Sections for moodboards and Figma
Sections are a convenient staging area for moodboard production. You can collect broadly on the main board, sort candidates into directions, then export only the section approved for presentation. Read how to turn a Pinterest board into a moodboard for a practical editing process.
For design work, importing one section keeps a Figma file lighter and more focused. The Pinterest-to-Figma workflow shows how to keep a raw archive outside the design file while placing only the curated shortlist on the canvas.
What if the scan includes the wrong pins?
First confirm that the section title is visible in the page you opened. Reload it, wait for the first group of pins to load and start the scan again. Avoid switching boards or sections while extraction is running.
If you actually need a mixture of pins from several sections, it may be quicker to scan the full board and curate the selection in the PinBoardSaver preview rather than producing and merging several exports.
Use the organization you already built
Sections exist to make a large board manageable. Your download should respect that structure rather than flatten it and recreate the sorting job on your computer. Open the exact section, review it once, and export it with PinBoardSaver in the format required by the next person or tool.
